Julie McKay, Yoga Instructor at Revolution Community Yoga and Fitness in Acton, Massachusetts

Julie McKay, E-RYT 500

Yoga Instructor Julie McKay grew up and raised her family on the coast of Maine. She has enjoyed calling Stow home for a decade. Trained as a dancer, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Dance at Skidmore College. She enjoyed teaching dance to children for 20 years, and as she was approaching 40, she fell deeply in love with yoga. She completed her initial Yoga Teacher Training in 2012 from Yoga On York and her advanced training from Yoga Renew in 2023. Julie cultivates a safe and comfortable atmosphere for her students weaving in philosophy, encouragement, and humor!

Some of Julie’s trainings include:
Frontiers of Trauma Treatment (van der Kolk/Moore)
The Art of Adjusting (Stackpoole/Peltz)
Classical 8 Limbed Path of Ashtanga Yoga (Birch)
Reiki I and II (Barnett)

Joanna Losty

Joanna Losty has been teaching yoga and strength/fitness classes for 18 years and completed her Yoga Teacher Training right here at Revolution Community Yoga in the very first 200-hour training session with Cindy Boulter. A kindergarten teacher and mom to three sons, Joanna brings patience, warmth and real-life understanding into every single class. Joanna is experienced, grounded, and steady…. but also brings big energy and humor. She believes that true (physical, mental and spiritual) growth and strength come only through slowing down and connecting to our true selves one mindful breath at a time.

Joanna’s teaching focuses on practices that support the nervous system and invites students to slow down and to find peace and ease, while at the same time building fire and strength in the body. She will challenge you to work hard when possible, and to take it easy when that is what you and your body need.  She will support and love you no matter how you show up that day.  Let’s face it, life is hard sometimes – Yoga is a safe place for all with Joanna. Her goal? To make you feel strong, confident, and at peace, both on and off your mat.

Janet Spiegel, Yoga Instructor at Revolution Community Yoga and Fitness in Acton, Massachusetts

Janet Spiegel, Yoga Instructor

Yoga Instructor Janet Spiegel first came to yoga more than a decade ago to add Power classes to her training plan for a half marathon. After crossing the finish line, she kept coming to her mat. Over time, Janet found yoga to be a spiritual place of peace, compassion, and community.

Janet earned her 200-hour Fluid Yoga Teacher certification in April 2019, and is beyond grateful to all of her teachers in Maine, Massachusetts and beyond for supporting her practice over the years.

She co-founded Elevate Yoga at Elevate Yoga Café and has taught at Samudra Studios, all in Maine. You will find her in vinyasa, yin, restorative, power, yoga nidra, and meditation classes, honoring a beginner’s mind while offering different ways to explore and have fun with the practice.

When she is not on her mat, Janet is a corporate yogi working as a management consultant, and loves time spent with her husband and twins.

BENEFITS OF PRIVATE INSTRUCTION:

Individualized Attention
Private lessons allow your instructor to get to know you and your body better so you can create a practice that is tailored to your needs, and safe for your body.

Accelerated Learning
Receiving more detailed instruction means you may “progress” at a quicker rate in whatever way that is relevant to your practice.

Adaptable for Everyone
No matter what your skill level or abilities, your instructor will adapt your private sessions to meet you where you’re at so you can get the most out of your time together.

Privacy
Sometimes, practicing with other people you don’t know can feel intimidating at first. Private sessions can help to ease you into a class setting so you feel more comfortable.

Physical Benefits for Recovery
Yoga and Pilates are great for helping with recovery from a sports injury (as long as you get clearance from your Physical Therapist and/or Doctor to add these to your routine). With the individual attention of a private session, the outcome may greatly improve how you perform in your sport or other activities.
