Drawing from traditional yoga, Chinese medicine, Buddhist philosophy and meditation, Theresa will weave these threads into an embodied experience offering yin style practices and teachings. Designed for those wanting a deeper learning experience, she will take time to unpack the lessons each time: focusing on a different sheath of the body, meridian-organ pair, anatomical/physiological feature, and mindfulness technique.

  • About yin vs. yang practices
  • How yin tissues differ from yoga tissues and how to work with them
  • How to teach yin yoga
  • Sequencing yin poses for a class
  • How to adapt postures for stiff bodies, injuries, as well as mobile bodies
  • About the meridian system of Chinese medicine and how it relates to yin yoga
  • About the physical and energetic qualities of the organs related to the meridians
  • How to weave mindfulness and meditation practices into the asana

BENEFITS OF PRIVATE INSTRUCTION:

Individualized Attention
Private lessons allow your instructor to get to know you and your body better so you can create a practice that is tailored to your needs, and safe for your body.

Accelerated Learning
Receiving more detailed instruction means you may “progress” at a quicker rate in whatever way that is relevant to your practice.

Adaptable for Everyone
No matter what your skill level or abilities, your instructor will adapt your private sessions to meet you where you’re at so you can get the most out of your time together.

Privacy
Sometimes, practicing with other people you don’t know can feel intimidating at first. Private sessions can help to ease you into a class setting so you feel more comfortable.

Physical Benefits for Recovery
Yoga and Pilates are great for helping with recovery from a sports injury (as long as you get clearance from your Physical Therapist and/or Doctor to add these to your routine). With the individual attention of a private session, the outcome may greatly improve how you perform in your sport or other activities.
