Ashtanga for All

Ashtanga Returns to Acton!!!
Ashtanga for All (60 minutes)
w/ Deb Dowson
Wednesdays & Fridays @ 6:30 – 7:30am  • RCY Acton
{ REGISTER for the May 8th Kick-Off Class }

This class is an opportunity for those new to Ashtanga to practice at a slower pace and shorter length than is typical of a full led primary class. Each class begins with Sun Salutations and Standing Poses followed by a selection of seated postures, the closing sequence and savasana. Deborah offers many options in every pose to allow individuals to explore the postures in ways that are most beneficial to their bodies. Every person’s practice can be more or less challenging depending on an individual’s needs and experience. The option of teacher assistance is also available if desired. You can expect to be guided and encouraged in a practice that is centered on your breath and as much as possible, by the mindful connection of your breath to your movements.  Deborah invites everyone with some experience in yoga to explore this style of yoga that was designed to foster health and well-being for all.

Deborah Dowson
When introduced to yoga as a teen, Deb was delighted and intensely curious about both the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga. In 1997 she began to practice seriously and her passion for practice and learning grew into a desire to teach. In 2004 Deborah was RYS certified after a year-long teacher training program where she studied both Iyengar based and Ashtanga Yoga at Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio.  Deb has taught various styles of yoga since then, but for the last several years her focus in teaching and her personal practice has been on Ashtanga yoga. For Deb, Ashtanga yoga is a life-long practice that continues to be transformative, therapeutic and a joy to learn about, to practice and to teach.
