In Chinese medicine, Energy or Chi is split into two complimentary polarities, Yin and Yang. Our fast-paced lives and activities can be heavily Yang, which can lead to burnout, stress, and a depletion of Chi.  Yin Yoga contributes to the balancing of Energy/Chi throughout the body, so we can be more vibrant and alive with increased pliancy in the joints and we can learn to be calm and still. Class consists of a series of held passive floor poses mainly for the hips, spine, and lower limbs. Each month we will practice a different Yin Sequence for optimal energy flow and flexibility.

Cindy is committed to being a life-long student of yoga and is a seeker of knowledge with over 20 years of experience in the fitness industry as an instructor and international presenter, and over 15 years’ experience teaching yoga and training yoga teachers. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, and has studied extensively with numerous teachers, completing over 1500 hours of training. Her studies include Yoga Therapeutics/Kinesiology and Biomechanics with Susi Hately and Dr. Bo Forbes, Yin Yoga and Meditation with Sarah Powers, Anatomy and Fascia with Tom Myers, Anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Mathews as well as in depth trainings with Theresa Murphy, Rolf Gates, Ana Forrest, Baron Baptiste and Shiva Rae.

Cindy’s seminars and workshops on making the most of life through communication, yoga and fitness have been presented throughout Canada, the US and Japan. Locally, she has assisted and taught classes at Kripalu for Bo’s sessions on Yoga for Anxiety and Depression and she has taught 5 years of 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings.

Cindy’s classes are a blend of smooth flowing movement with strength and stillness; each class being unique and designed to create a deeper understanding of ourselves and how we align in our bodies and in the world. She believes in practicing with a sense of humor, self -compassion and curiosity.
