Summer! It’s the season most of us anticipate all year long. We look forward to vacations, longer days, and a more relaxed pace.
In Chinese Medicine, early summer is the season of the Heart and its’ yang pair, the Small Intestine. In Five Element Theory, Summer is Fire and associated with heat. The emotion associated with the heart is Joy, and is known as the ‘seat of the mind’. According to the Huang Di Nei Jing, one of the most famous, classic texts written almost 5000 years ago, “The heart is the sovereign of all organs and represents the consciousness of one’s being. It is responsible for intelligence, wisdom, and spiritual transformation”.
When the heart and small intestine are in balance, we feel enthusiasm, love, and warmth in human relationships. When they are imbalanced, we may either lack joy, (depression), have an excess of joy, (manic condition), or digestive issues.
Yoga has been helping people find balance of mind, body and spirit for centuries and its impact on how we manage life’s transitions can feel downright magical. Give your body the gift of a thoughtful yoga practice crafted to rejuvenate stuck energy, release congestion and open up your being to allow for the powerful healing an acupuncture treatment brings.
In this supportive, relaxing environment, Amy will guide you through a gentle yoga practice inspired by fourth chakra energy with a special focus on the heart and small intestine. Angela will treat you to a healing acupuncture treatment during savasana (final resting pose). The treatment will support the needs of the fire element using points to help the body and mind enter a deeper state of relaxation.
Acupuncture is a modality of Chinese Medicine, and is a safe and effective way to address many health issues, using the body’s own energy system, or ‘Qi’. Needles are one-time use and hair-thin. This workshop is appropriate for those who are experienced with acupuncture as well as those new to this healing modality. Non-insertive options are available (simply let Angela know upon arrival). We promise you will leave feeling more nourished, grounded, and rested when you leave!
