CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

In a Vinyasa Flow class, movement and breath come together in a flowing sequence of yoga postures. Each pose is linked to the breath, creating a moving meditation that helps cultivate strength, balance, flexibility, and focus. Through the flow you will build heat, increase mobility, and develop greater sense of body awareness. Classes may include a variety of standing, balancing, seated, and restorative postures, offering opportunities to challenge yourself while staying connected to your breath. We recommend folks new to yoga take at least one of our Mindful Flow or Gentle Flow classes before taking Vinyasa Flow.

Mindful Flow is a moderately-paced practice accessible for all levels that focuses on breath, alignment, and truly grounding movement. The level of intensity for this class is perfect for someone who wants to flow, but at a more relaxed pace than our Vinyasa Flow classes. SLOWER DOES NOT MEAN EASIER! You will work in this class to build strength in bones, muscles, and balance. Props and modifications will be offered, allowing each student to find the right version of a pose for their body. This class is also ideal for anyone wanting to explore the deepening of poses with a bit more heat than a gentle yoga class. All levels are welcome!

This challenging, moderately-paced flow class emphasizes building strength while honoring the mind-body connection and reducing stress. You will warm the body with natural internal heat, you will sweat, and you will work to increase flexibility, balance, and stamina. RCY’s Power Flow class prioritizes mindful and powerful movement of the body, with greater attention paid to strength and confidence-building rather than to super-intense cardiovascular activity. There will be opportunities to try more advanced poses when appropriate, with safety as the top priority always. Accessible for most levels with self-modification – guide your own practice to intensify or moderate.

Unapologetically challenging! Our most energetic and physically-demanding Flow class. Stoke internal heat, sweat, breathe, find your edge – this is the class for you if want to safely push yourself! Warms the body, awakens the spirit, releases stress, helps build full-body strength, and allows the muscles to stretch. We will mindfully flow at varying speeds that will elevate your heart rate. There will be opportunities to learn and practice more advanced poses, and take your current asana practice to the next level. More experienced asana practitioners can guide their own practice with self-directed modifications to intensify or moderate.

Power with weights is a high energy class that incorporates hand weights for a total body conditioning class within a yoga framework.  You’ll see traditional yoga poses from power flow classes with bicep curls, squats, and other key strength moves mixed in.  This hybrid class aims to stretch, strengthen, and challenge the muscles in a fun, encouraging environment.

Hatha Yoga includes yoga poses, breathing practices and meditation/mindfulness techniques. The class has a strong focus on safe and proper alignment, and breath and body awareness. We work toward strength, steadiness, flexibility, balance, concentration and calming of the mind. The slower pace of the class with longer holds in poses (compared to flow or Vinyasa classes) allows for attention to detail. Modifications are offered as needed, and the use of props is welcomed. This class is open to all levels and abilities.

Experience harmony and balance through this mindful practice designed to reduce stress, release tension and promote relaxation. Emphasis on self-awareness, breath, and honoring the body. No Yoga experience is required. Ideal for beginners, and/or those with injuries.

Gentle Flow Yoga with Sound Healing is a calming and accessible practice that begins with pranayama (breathwork) to settle into the present moment and bring focus to the practice. We then move through slow, mindful, breath centered movement with an emphasis on gentle stretching, improved mobility, balance, and relaxation. Students are invited to move at a comfortable pace while cultivating greater ease in both body and mind.

We come to stillness with an extended Sound Bath Savasana, where the soothing vibrations of singing bowls and other healing instruments encourage deep rest, nervous system regulation, and a profound sense of renewal. The practice closes with meditation, offering an opportunity to notice what shifts as we open up space in the body and mind.

Find peace in this nurturing class. Expect gentle movement to warm and soothe the body, mind, and soul followed by still restorative postures, ending with savasana. Give your body the safe space and downtime it needs after movement to calm the nervous system and find a sense of tranquility in stillness. You will leave feeling calm and rejuvenated!

Unlike active yang yoga, which targets the muscles of the body, the primary intention of Yin yoga is to focus on the dense connective tissues of the body. Yin yoga is believed to help hydrate these connective tissues, assist in removing toxins from the body, prevent the shortening of the tissues around the joints, allow mobility in the joints, and maintain our spinal structure. During these Yin classes, we will bring our bodies into postures to experience moderate levels of sensation, relax the muscles of our intended target area, and remain relatively still in the postures for longer holds.

Restorative yoga is a practice of slowing down and opening the body through passive stretching, gentle assists and quiet breath. Using blankets, bolsters and blocks to assist in longer holds, restorative yoga gives you a sense of peace and calm in an otherwise busy world. This nurturing class provides students the space and encouragement they need to slow down and allow the breath to support the body. Give your body the safe space and downtime it needs to calm the nervous system and find a sense of peace in stillness.

Restorative yoga paired with hands-on Reiki (with your consent) blends candlelight, prop-supported relaxation, breath, and energy work to promote complete rest. By surrendering into blankets, bolsters, and blocks for longer holds, the body is more able to release holding patterns that cause lingering tension in muscle and fascial tissue. This offering is here to give you the space you need to find stillness in the body and mind to soothe your nervous system, so that you might find a greater sense of peace in a moving world.

Take a midday pause from the busyness of your day and settle into a practice of relaxation and renewal. This nurturing class will begin with a gentle yoga flow to release tension and connect with your breath, followed by restorative yoga poses designed to support deep relaxation. As you rest, you’ll be immersed in the soothing sounds of crystal singing bowls, creating a calming experience for both body and mind. Leave feeling refreshed and ready to meet the rest of your day with greater ease, clarity, and presence. Suitable for all levels, including beginners.

A self-maintenance practice that complements your Yoga practice!
This class was designed to explore our myofascial system. Our bodies have a covering of connective tissue called fascia. This fascia wraps and connects the muscles, organs, nerves, and blood vessels. Restrictive movement, sedentary lifestyle, injuries/disease and/or stress on the body can be demonstrated in the fascia and underlying muscles. This empowering therapeutic practice can alleviate chronic pain and help establish better postural balance, release deep muscle tension, aid in lymphatic drainage, raise tissue oxygen levels and release endorphins, increase joint range of motion. In this 60-minute class, students will learn how to use therapeutic balls, blocks, props and functional movements to release tight fascia, increase blood flow, and circulation to the soft tissues. We will also break up trigger points that individually cause restrictions, and discomfort. The outcome is similar to the effect of a deep tissue massage. The goal is to soften and lengthen the fascia, and break down scar tissue or adhesions leaving you feeling lighter, energized and more fluid. The exercises for these sessions are practiced on the floor seated, lying on the back, and the belly. We welcome all Students from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and degrees of flexibility. From beginner level to more experienced, we hope you leave the class inspired to continue the practice on your own!
